Default F22A4 Rebuild?

First off ill say that my car has been previously wrecked but the frame really isnt bent badly, almost 90% of the damage was to the radiator support... and im considering buying another one and just spot welding it in, with that, minor straightening, new hood/fenders/bumper, and a paint job it would be a brand new car on the outside... but not the inside.

My car has an F22A4 with 208,000 miles on it... and it leaks oil... progressively worse, and theres just a few other little quirks, i was just wondering if a rebuild would be worth doing? If i could get another 200k+ miles out of it, i'd be more than happy to do whatever!

What all do i need to rebuild it to new or like-new specs? About how much is it going to cost me? Any additional information is also appreciated.

You can buy another CB for the cost it would take to bring your's back to new. But if you insist on sticking with that one, a used motor with decent mileage (70K) can be picked up for around $600... a lot cheaper and easier than worrying about a rebuild.

the body work is free cuz im doin it.... the paint is free... the hood/fender/bumper are next to nothing, and i dont need the headache of another motor.

i appreciate the information, but mine has been more than reliable, and id like to keep it, i just need to know what all its going to take for a complete rebuild and how much thats going to be (approximately)

I agree with CDsquad..An f22a4 is a real common and cheap motor to replace.I bought a used one for my 90 accord ex for 250 buck with only100k on it a year ago.The new motor doesn't leak a drop of oil and was not that hard to change at all.In fact if you having to work on your radiator support then it may be easier to do all that and repaint it with the motor and trans out anyway.

its not really a matter of monetary value... its the experience of doing all of it... that i want, and i would learn a LOT more doing this the hard way, but thanks for the advice guys...

ive never done body work before... and ive never rebuilt a motor, and theres a first time for everything! might as well be while im willing, patient, and able!

The yeah go for it.Get a oem rebuild kit and rebuild that thing..F22 are real good at hold ing boost.......psssst and with only redrilling a few bolt holes the turbo manifold of of an eclipse eagle talon or plymouth laser works.

ANd with some forged pistons you could run some decent boost and not have to worry about your ringlands breaking.

even a stockish rebuild will run you about 1000...probably more if you are having machine shops do alot of the work for you...

Almost easier to swap in an F22B DOHC with a new WP and timing belt and call it a day...

but IMO the rebuilt F22Ax will last you longer... at least another 100-150,000 miles...
