Default Mid-Ohio April 8-9, Anyone Else Going?

Just wondering if anyone here (in addition to me) is planning to go to this drivers school being held by the Northern Ohio Chapter of BMW CCA. It's the usual HPDE format, with classroom sessions, an instructor in your passenger seat (until you can demonstrate that you're ready to solo), approximately 90 minutes of actual track time each day (which is PLENTY), etc. Good group of folks, run a good event. And, of course, Mid-Ohio is tremendous FUN!!! It's still my number one favorite track for fun, of the 25 tracks I've driven.

The registration fee is $330 for the two-day event, which is a bargain for a Mid-Ohio event. The application can be downloaded from the chapter's website at http://nohiobmwcca.org.

I was hoping to make it to this one again this year. I'll just have to see if I can afford it as it gets a bit closer.

Hmmmm, the last time I was at Mid-Ohio in Early April, there was a snow plow going down the front straight. And the snow was so bad, we could not get out of the paddock with our street car and had to hitch a ride home in an Excursion...

A note for those of you that may not know, Mid Ohio was repaved, meaning no more concrete patches. That also means you can kiss goodbye all of your old track markers. It's going to be like learning a new track!!!

For any one that is going I wish the best of luck with the weather!!! I'm still up in the air for the Late April NASA event.

I've been really anxious to see what the track is like without the concrete. I've been there a number of times in april and the next weekend after all that snow it was dry as can be and nice and warm.

Mid-Ohio weather............always a suprise.

That was last year's NASA event, which was the April 1 weekend.

The following weekend was the BMW CCA event, in which it was sunny and 70 degrees every day. Gorgeous.

Normal high there for those dates is 58 degrees F, normal low is 36 degrees F.

You have to be extraordinarily unlucky for it to snow on those dates. (They average a snowstorm of two inches or more in the entire month of April only once every five years.)

If anyone is planning to go, I'm looking for someone to split the cost of a garage. Each garage holds two cars. They have the usual hookups. The garages are unheated. Smoking (by people, not cars ) is not allowed. Each share is $100 for the weekend (one half of the $200 cost).
