stay away from the ebay chips, they are just there to make money all the chips are bullshit... you need to get a chip and use it to have your car tuned to its best potential, every car is different as well.

anyone have any success stories with these chips?

and by the way you just need to solder it in. good luck either way you go.

i socketed my computer myself.. it just takes a little patience and some minor soldering skill. if you arent comfortable doing it yourself though, there are lots of people on here that do it for a little money. i just run a pm6 stock map in my ecu with launch control and the check engine shift light and it works well. if you want to run in the higher rpms, you are gonna need a new tune or upgraded cam or both.. cause the stock engine only makes power to 6500 rpm, which is actually 700 rpm BELOW your current fuel cut. soo.. that is something to keep in mind. go to pgmfi.org there is a writeup on how to socket your own ecu.. or you can go to http://www.moates.net/ and buy supplies or have him socket it for you. oh yeah.. and dont buy ebay chips unless you like blowing up engines and have a lot of money.

Socket the 89, it's fun: search pgmfi.org for how-to because I can't find the link.

I did it, and I don't recall it being fun :sarcasm:. I used a hobby board and a ton of 20 ga. wire, but it works and I even added a switch to enable/disable the external eprom. It can be done, grasshopper. I would still recommed finding a 90-91 PM6 if you are a chipping newbie. Everything you need to know is at pgmfi.org

But do you remember that the rev limiter is there for a reason.
