Water Pump Problem?
Today i drove my car to work perfectly fine. When i was leaving, i started up my car and it made a loud grinding noise near the left pulley belt.. i took it too the nearest mechanic and he said it is the waterpump. It will run somehwere between 700-1000..becasue he would have to change the timing belt too. I dont know if this is necessary and i just want to know if anyone has had this problem or can give me some insight on this problem. Thanks
he doesnt "have" to change it. he probably wants to change it because he doesnt want to be responsible for re installing a used belt. unless its bad, and, well, you should have it changed anyway. I'll tell you, changing a water pump on a prelude is no easy task. You have to remove both the cam pullies, timing belt, balance belt, left motor mount, left wheel, all crank and t-belt pullies, all the covers, etc etc..its alot of work. Also, change your T-stat at the same time as preventitive maintenance
If you want tobring it down south I'll do the labor for $300 you bring the parts but they better be from Honda or I don't want any part of it. It would be done in one day. lmk (559) 633-0376 Stephen
