i just painted my car and there are a few runs and some bad spots so what i wanted to know...i would like to know if its a basecoat clearcoat system or a single stage paint job where the color and clear are mixed together and shot as one..
1 what sand papaer girt used to wet sand
depending on how bad the runs or bad spots are, start at 1500grit.....then work your way up.. personally i would go over the entire car with 1500 grit to get rid of ALL the orange peel and imperfections..work your way up to 2000 etc..make sure when you sand the runs, youre sanding along the run..not across the run.
2 what buffing pad used
i use the yellow foam meguires pad
3 what buffing compound
i use 3m extra cut at first to get out the 1500grit sand marks...then i use the final cut after...there are more ways to do this..but this is the method my friend taught me.
4 how many days to wait till i do this
i did it the next day...shot the clear, next day, wetsanded the entire car....cleaned it...buffed it...
5 if it matters at what temp i do this at
doesnt matter i did it when it was 50degrees maybe colder lol
have fun, keep the buffer moving so you dont burn your paint hehe
hope this helps bro
^^agreed you should be fine with 1000 grit as long as you have more than 4 coats of clear,
1. use some of this

on one of these

then some of this

on one of these

and to finish it of use some hi quality wax (that caunoooba stuff<--dont know how to spell it
)
DONT SPEND TOO MUCH TIME ON ONE SPOT OR YOUR WILL BURN THE CLEAR
and about the runs, take some sand paper to it, LIGHTLY untill their gone! good luck post your results

i always was told if its baked then you can do whatever you want to it.

be carefull if you have never wet sanded or buffed a car before, its very easy to burn the paint. make sure you wrap the sand paper around a wet sanding block to ensure your sanding flat and use a 3m wet sanding squeegee so you can swipe were you have sanded and see if it is sanded well.

anything with silicone will kill your new paint.....and i heard that you should wash your car with dishwasher soap for the first month if you absolutely have to wash your car...
