Default DASH LIGHTS OUT

I installed a new stereo, the car was on when i plugged it in and i could see a little electric shock or something when i clipped the adapters together from the stereo to the car. Now the gauge lights or the rear lights don't work. The weird thing is that i checked the fuses for the gauge and rear lights and they're just fine. It's a 94 Accord LX, any help would be great. Also, I checked the fuses that are in the engine compartment and one of them was blown and i replaced it, but i didn't make any difference, and i don't know what fuse it was because the sticker is gone off the fuse box. So if anyone has any other ideas that would be great

Are the fuses blowing as soon as you're putting them in? If so, you've got something miswired, most likely your illumination wires. You should be matching color to color. If there's no color to match to, you should be pulling that wire out of the harness or capping it off.

I can't tell you how many stereos I've seen installed where the owner got "creative" because they didn't know enough to match orange to orange, orange/white to orange/white, etc...

If they fuses are staying "intact' when you put them in, then you've got other issues.

How did you test the fuse? Did you just "look at them" or did you check continuity with a meter??

OK, I figured out what was happening. When I installed it there was one extra wire in the harness coming from the car. It was orange/white actually if anyone knows what that is. There wasn't that color on the stereo so i just left it, but i didn't cover it and it was touching metal and causing a short, but i got it fixed and now everything works just fine. Thanks.
