GET RID of that night time "dingy look" on your gauge cluster.
I plan to add a new EK Si cluster in the future but until then I wanted to get rid of that dingy orange look the EFs have at night, my old GS-R was much better looking IMO ans since that was the last car I had before I started driving my CRX the lighting difference was way to obvious so I decided to see what I could do to remedy the problem. You can see in the pics the obvious reason it's orange so I modified the blue lense from the '92 LS speedo I had laying around and while I was at it I wanted to add some color to my OEM cluster and red is my favorite so it was a no brainer. I was just messing around but I really like the results, the CRX decal in the middle is from the CRX model I am in the middle of building and the Vtec sticker i've just had for a long time and finally found a place for it. I may go in a add something better looking soon but so far I am really happy and I already cheacked it at night and the orange dingy look is ALL GONE! now it looks just like my DA did and it matches my autometer tach now. and oh yeah, while I was at it I rolled my odometer back from the chassis mileage to the actual miles of my motor, it was actually really easy and I did not even have to remove the face cover of the speedo! well enough talking here are the pics.

I had to sand the notches out on the blue cover since the DA has no screws there

I switched the needles from the DA to the EF also since it looked cleaner IMO. The tach needle on my EF would not come all the way off though so I just left it in place for now

This I know but that would only be a problem if i tried to sell my car this way. My title has my original purchase mileage on it so I can't exaclty hide that but I don't plan to sale this car ever. Once I get a new cluster this would be an issue anyway so I just addressed it now in the mean time. besides, I wrote down the exact mileage so God forbid I ever have to sell it I will know what the actual chassis mileage is and I would but it back right

Not true for all states. Here in FL, cars over 10 years old I think are mileage/odometer excempt. My 16 year old CRX is odometer exempt., no mileage written on the title.

That 10 year rule is true here in Wi too, I don't think I know of a state where it's not exempt after 10 years.

I too wouldl ike to see how it turned out at night. Takes pics!
On a side note: When places where you have to smog (like where I live) the person smogging your car records the milage and sends it to the Department of motor vehicles. Cali can suck sometimes.

I just got back from a drive a little bit ago, the gauges all work properly! and as far as the light goes I unfortunately do not have a "bulb" feature on my digi so I can't take a good night pic. I can tell you that it looks AWESOME and it looks like any other DA does, no more orange!
I can also say that it is very easy to just change the orange look since the top lense comes off so easy, I used my DA lense because it was laying around but any kind of transparent material would work as long as you remove the orange lense, it is easy to figure out once the cluster is out of your car.

That peice is right behind the speedometer face and trims the odometer, there is also a clear peice but I left it in place because it seemed needed to properly set the gauge back in place. I took the orange out because I figured this was also part of the glow i was trying to get rid of. All the numbers light up a little better now and the red almost seems to be brighter than the white the way it lights up. I wish I could take a night pic but beleive me if you want a cleaner look DO THISS because it's easy and you won't be dissapointed, besides you can always change it back since you don't mess anything up customizing it.
As far as the 10yr rule, this is the first I heard of it. I am sure NC does not imply that simply because my car is a '90 and the mileage is DEFINETELY on my title.
I will also post some daytime pics tommorrow with it installed since it looks so much better than it does it these pics.

I just colored them as you see them, there was no "back" to color, they are just white letters that reflect when light hits them and that's how they shine at night. And as I said the red I used actually reflects as good and almost better than the white. A sharpie would have been more effecient but I worked w/ what I had, if I had a sharpie I would have colored the needles as well.......yeah I think I may do this very soon, Red needles.

Not bad, but I was not planning on spending money on my current setup since I just wanted to work with what I had. There are not too many things you can do to your car for free like this so I figured I would have at it.
