Default Project thread; 89 std, rebuilt d16a6, possible turbo build.

Well we started with an 89 civic std. stock d15 dpfi. This is not my car but its motor is the one out of my si that i swapped a b18 into. this will just be a way to keep track of the progress we make. the car is fbw2003's and im sure he will be posting here too. the block was dipped and honed and the head was gone through and got a 3 angle valve job and some new seals, also have a d16y8 intake manifold for it and will be doing the mpfi wiring ourselves.

ya when i pulled it out of my car to swap in the b18a it had 179,000 miles and ran like a ****. the engine didnt show much wear at all internally. just had the rebuild to be sure. it did burn some oil im guessin from the bad valve seals.

Those are all the stock pistons too, a wire brush cleaned them up very nicely, shouldve seen them before about 1/16th of an inch of built up carbon on every one.

we have a question for any turbo sohc guys, should we even attempt to install the motor with the turbo on it? granted the radiator will be out of the way.

If you are dropping it on from above... you can easily keep the turbo on. From below.. I'd say just take the turbo off. Taking off the crossmember is harder (hard to get the tie rod ends off the LCA sometimes).
