Need Heat Shields with JDM Header?
I have a JDM header with Jet-Hot coating on it. Do I need heat shields on the thing? I have them on now but they rattle and are pissing me off. Can I just take them off? Do I need to worry about the heat?
I figure since Mugen and Spoon headers don't need heat shields, why do I?

If you have a short ram intake, the overall temperature under the hood is increased with the heatshield off, so it will be sucking in hotter air. I don't really see it being a big deal for cold air except the heat will heat up the tube more. But the air is moving so fast anyways i don't think it makes that much of a difference.
The aluminum intake tubes that everyone uses soak up heat like mad. Don't believe me, go drive your car around for 15 minutes and check how hot that intake tube gets.
-Tommy who is likes rubber intake tubes.

I got the Comptech Icebox with the stock rubber tube.
I am hoping the Jet-Hot coating will contain the heat enough that no heat shields won't matter.
I am just sick of **** on this car rattling, etc.

I am selling the header in about 2 months to a friend so if he doesn't want them you are welcome to them; i will let you know.
