Can I use the head off a 1998 Civic EX d16y8 obd2a sohc VTEC on my 1988 D15b2?
Just curious?? Tried a search and couldn't find anything. If so what exactly is needed for the swap and is it a good swap to do. Thanks
Hello............Bueller.................Bueller.. .....................Anybody wanna help a Noobie?????
it will fit but you will need to somehow wire the vtec... either obd1 obd2 or with some sort of vtec controller or switch
yes it will work. you will need to decide what obd you want to use.. and you need to do an mpfi swap also.
obd-0 you can do with a chipped pm6 and a wire to the a/c wire
obd-1 you can use the p28 but youll need a 4 wire o2 and a obd1 distributor and conversion harness.
or obd 2 w/ whatever computer is in the car it came out of and the distributor and o2 sensor and a conversion harness.
might i suggest obd0 as the cheap way out with a chipped pm6 and mpfi swap..
if you want to do it right, do NOT wire it to an rpm switch.. because where does your engine get that extra fuel for the mad VtaCk? oh yeah NO WHERE...

i would agree. obd1 is where you want to be. i guess you will need a new distributor if you go with obd0 or 1. i was thinking he could use his current distributor on the chipped pm6, but you cant cause the extra sensor.
so regardless of which obd you choose, you will need:
distributor (either obd0 SI distributor for the pm6, or whatever the obd1 p28 distributor is)
mpfi conversion
and depending on which obd you choose, you may need a new o2 sensor.
search for mini-me, or just go to the thread that tyson created at the top of the ef forum that says new faq v 2.0 or whatever.
