It wont tighten it wont get loose. What solutions do I have for this? Im guessing im going to have to rip it off and replace it . but how?

 

same problem here, you need to get the part of the bolt that is stuck into the valve cover. as for taking the nut off, I think theres gonna be some cutting needed. an Idea I have is to slice horizontally. then stick something in the center of the bolt while turning the nut with a wrench. my mechanic quoted $40 to fix it.

 

keep turning it (loosen it) until the stud come apart, maybe the nut is stuck with the stud

 

im guessing its rusted together or has strong *** thread loc on it. try some liquid wrench or something like that to help loosen it up.

 

just break it off......the stud in question is only 6mm in diameter of which two mm's are threads.......don't be a wussy. if you have to, get a big pair of vice grips and grab on and turn firmly and await it to wring off. Once you have the valve cover removed, get a 10mm deep well socket and remove the stud from the head and replace with a decent used one or a new one. Problem solved.
