i have a problem with cd player, i did bench test and everything works (including sound), but when i plug it in the car, it turns on but no sound.. i even used a speaker that worked on the bench test and nothing came out, so basically the cd player only works outside of the car...

any ideas why??

By the way its been working but when i washed my car and then got in like 30 mins later it didnt work

 

check wiring perhaps. if theres an amp check that.. remote wire, fuse etc.

 

agreed check all your wiring and then report back

 

ok..heres how its setup

Grounded to the car with aligator clips to make sure its grounded good
Only one speaker connected (one that was used in the bench test)
Hot Wire connected to Hot Wire on cd player
Memory wire connect to fuse box..

also it starts to get hot on the back right side of cd player

Its a honda civic si cd player, running in a 94 Civic

Is the stock radio plug no longer in the 94?

What harness/plug have you got for the "si cd player"?

Things getting hot is an indication of shorted out outputs. 94
