vortech sc'd b16a1 crx????
i was wondering if neone has done this. i want to swap a b16a into my crx but i was wondering if there would be enough room to put a vortech supercharger in there. i already have a JRSC on my d16y8 in my crx but i would rather have the vortech.
also if it does fit does neone know if the jdm b16a(cable tranny) will be able to handle the vortech or will i have to get the usdm hydro b16a? or will the hydro jdm b16a work also cus a friend has one.
so if neone KNOWS anything bout this plz let me know.
TIA!

I don't beleive that setup will fit without cutting, and fabrication, and still may not. I don't know 100%, but I know how much room is in there, and I know how much you need for the vortech. Do a search, there was some info on this before. As for the trans, both the cable and hydro are capable of handling the same horsepower/torque loads.
Get a Lysthom SC way better if you dont mind the noise. I got a vid of how loud it is IM or e-mail me at: dohc16v@shaw.ca and ill send it over

Ive kind of eyed up, with both the Civic Si and GSR kits, and if one is going to work its going to be the GSR kit. It places the charger about 3/4" closer to the engine due to needing to clear the ABS module on the GSR. A slim radiator fan is going to be an absolute necessity. Also, the power steering pump has to be retained so that might need some massaging to fit as well with the bracket that attaches to the power steering pump. I dont think the intercooler is going to work, unless you can somehow custom plumb an air-air setup, the Vortech air-water looks to be too big to fit, and i dont think the openings in the endtanks will line up in respect to the charger placement and the manifold placement.
Id love to see it done though, if you need any tech with the kit itself you might be able to get it from Mike at Diablo Autosports or Trevor at Vortech, they are experts with the Vortech kits.

thnx for all the replies guys!
do u think it might work if i use a fmi instead of the air to water cooler. that way it'll make more room in the engine bay. not sure jus guessing
oh and i don't think i can handle the noise level of the lysthom charger.......gettin pretty strict on the imports here.....zero tolerance on car mods in richmond here

The vortech drag car has the supercharger mounted on the pully side of the engine. This could allow you to use the front mount. I don't think it would fit in the same place in the ef.
