Default Is it worth it?

I want to take out my A/C. I never use it and I hear that even when the A/C is off, that the fan takes about 5 horsepower to spin it anyway. I called a shop and the guy told me that it would cost about $200 because he had to use his "special" tool to remove the A/C fluid and take it out. My question is, can I do it myself? Is it worth it?

Yeah, you might gain a whole tenth of a second. You could easily do it yourself but it is illegal to knowingly discharge Freon into the atmosphere. I guess thats like the provebial tree falling in the woods. I can't imagine living where a/c isn't a necessity. It must be nice.
