Default Can you say parts car? (long post...sorry))

Just a little background imagery first...

My 1990 CRX DX a few months after I got it a year ago:

Same car after my hood blew open on the highway last November:

As of now, I haven't driven my CRX since mid December. It currently sits in my dad's driveway in NJ with a blown headgasket and a multitude of other issues.

The following is the newly acquired parts car from which I'm pulling the D15B2 engine minus the automatic tranny and swapping it onto my manual tranny. I would've swapped in a D16A6 or similar engine but this car popped up for a good deal. I may go DPFI to MPFI later or go for an engine swap to something with more oomph. My commute to work (PA to NJ) is about 200 miles round trip and since this is my daily driver I don't really need to pull fast times at the track!

I'm also gonna swap my blue-painted-black interior for the parts car's original black interior. It just needs a good cleaning. It's seats may or may not get swapped out too depending on their condition. This car sat out in the rain and snow with it's windows down for quite some time.

I'm also gonna strip the parts car for all that I can either use myself or sell. If you need something I don't, send me a PM and I'll see what I can do.

Pass side interior:

When the guy who previously owned it came back to get his radio while the car was at the garage I bought it from, he just ripped the console to get at his radio. Booo!

Driver's side interior:

Driver's side damage:

Driver's side rear damage:

Pass. side front damage:

D15B2 engine:

Thoughts? Suggestions? Opinions? Anything?

Thanks for looking!

Yup, white car is the keeper and the red one's the donor car. Fram on the driver's side is FUBAR. Apparently the kid who owned it drove it off an embankment and down a hill. The car was given to him by his father who passed away so they were planning on getting it fixed for sentimental reasons but after hearing what it would cost, they said to just junk it.

Woke up early on Saturday to work on taking apart the donor CRX before my kids' soccer games/practices. All I was able to do was take out the dash and gauge cluster. Damn that thing is a bitch to remove! Hopefully it'll go in a lot easier. Question: both the donor CRX and the good CRX are 1990 DXs but the dashes look different. Were the dashes changed midway through the year? Maybe I'm just mistaken as I haven't seen my CRX since mid-December.

Up next will be all the trim pieces, door panels, headliner and heater/AC parts. Should I put AC back in my good CRX or keep it out? After that will be the rear hatch and bumper and all the taillights and stuff. I was hoping the rear quarters were in good enough condition to cut off and keep as well, but the rust got there before me.

Should I take all the good glass as well? The doors are good too so I'll be keeping those just in case I'll need them in the future. Carpet seems good too. The driver's side seat seems to be bent along with the frame so that seat might be FUBAR. Passenger seat is good though. Hopefully I'll be able to get all this done before the cars are (again, hopefully) picked up this weekend for the engine swap. (I don't have the tools nor a garage to do any real engine work in.)

Thanks for looking. I'll update this thread regarding the dismantling of the donor CRX as well as the bring back to life of the good CRX as time goes on more for myself and anyone else who gives a damn although by the looks of where I found this thread on page 8, it doesn't seem like it). But feel free to comment anyways.

Good luck with her. Where in the Poconos do you live? You may be very close to me.

I'm about a half hour south east of you. About 3 miles from the Pocono Speedway (NASCAR track) or whatever they're calling it now. We may have chatted before.

Both steering wheels from both cars are in oretty decent shape. I'm looking to upgrade to a nice hub/quick release/steering wheel combo à la NRG or Momo etc. So damn expensive though!

I remember talking to you before but forgot. (My brain is no steel trap).

Good luck with your new baby! I just did some major work to mine and it still needs more.
