Cleaning an Engine Bay
My engine has a lot of caked up gunk on the tranny and crank shaft or whatever and throught the engine bay .. been there since i bought the car... is there some sort of cleaner that I can use to dissolve the gunk without wiping it all away by hand? OR
should I get it power washed? im worried that if i power wash it, ill get water in some of the seals and gaskets and never find out where the problem lies if one occurs....... ive still got the ol 1.6 in there.
im asking because i added a polished valve cover i just finished and it stands out cuz the rest of the engine is dirty as hell... haha.... any info would be appreciated.

i used castrol super clean and a 5 gallon bucket with really hot water and a green scotch brite pad.. worked wonders for my subframe on my 75 camaro.. as for powerwashing.. i would.. i am going to do that with my 90 crx dx when i pick it up after i get back from iraq. sure you might gets some seal leakage when you blow all the gunk away.. but its how we do it in the army.. (course we dont have to pay for parts either so...)

Hey, as long as your engine is clean, who cares if it leaks?
Just remember to cover your distributor and other electrical components before you pressure wash it.
