Default My somewhat stealth (quiet) exhuast

Pics of my Tanabe Hyper with the can painted semi flat black with high heat engine enamel. I am very happy with this exhaust, once you get rid of the bottleneck at the cat flange it's 2.1/4 ID all the way back which is just a hair smaller than the ID of a U.S. 2.5 OD pipe. The sound of this thing is non-existent on the freeway and has a nice tone when on it. Did not notice any power losses as compared to my Racing Medalion, might have actually picked up torque. It's mated to a 2.50 SMSP carsound cat and adapter which also helps cut the DB's. Sorry, dirty car

That looks very clean! Also might I add that it is really sleeper looking also. Props on the good idea.

Yes the can is ss. Rough up the surface with some 600 grit paper.

Mugen? Power? Isn't that an axle back? Doesn't the twin loop neck down to 2" on the loop? Doesn't the Mugen require lots of $$.

Cough, cough. I'm sure those are nice pieces but for that money mugen wouldn't even enter my mind. SMSP or Hytech, and I'm sure they would easily outperform mugen. Mugen, nice bling bling factor though.

Nice! I've had the same idea for months with my Tanabe too. I want the RS*R look to mine too. Drop me an IM when you can.

Nice!

So could you tell us all, the process/method that you used. I want to do that to mine.

Roughed up the surface with some sand paper..and?

I am assuming that you just used to falt back spray paint and painted it, correct?

Mugen= overrated

I know that a Toda Header and Custom SMS exhasut will destroy that setup in terms of Power and TQ, and be very stealth at the same time

i think the Mugen header is a old design. and does not provide near the performance of even a DC JDM

IntegraGSR23: I used high heat semi-flat black enamel and went over the surface with 600 grit paper.

Vegeta: I realize that there are better flowing exhaust systems out there, hell if I had the money I wouldn’t mine a nice SMSP or HyTech system. I posted these pics and praise this exhaust because it has performed flawlessly. It is extremely quiet when cruising, fitment was perfect (unlike other more expensive exhaust systems that have been posted lately) looks pretty stealthy (not much 'BLiNG yO) and has performed as well as my "High Flow Racing" Tanabe RM in back to back test's. This set up has yielded me consistent 14.5 @ 96MPH runs in a GSR with street tires 205/45/16 A520, with R cams, R tranny, XS ecu rev limiter 9200- factory GSR fuel parameter's, AEM , and old school DC 4-2-1 header, not to mention nice torque.

I'm sure one day when I build B20C1 I will be upgrading to a header/cat back that can handle the extra displacement- for now I have no complaints.

To All: I think as long as your happy with the performance and can handle the noise of some N1 style exhaust, go for it. This is just a post to show that there are other lesser advertised alternatives that I think would work well with a mild ITR/GSR/LS set up, won't alert every cop within a mile your doing a run and looks decent.
