Default VTEC DONT WORK... CODE 8... ON B16 88 CRX SWAP..

GOT A 88 DX... AFTER GETTIN ALL THE WIRES FROM A FRIENDS 89 SI. DASH... ECU TO ENGINE BAY AND ENGIE HARNESS.. I DID THE SWAP... AND I DID SOME RESEARCH ON HOW TO WIRE VTEC.. WELL I RAN A "DUMMY" 2ND O2 SENSOR.. PLUGGED IN THE KNOCK SENSOR.... AND WENT AHEAD AND RAN FROM A8 AND B19 THE WIRES FOR THE SOLENIOD AND OIL PREASSURE... AND UMMMM NOTHIGN HAPPENED... SO I GOT A PWO ECU AND STILL SAME THING.. CLEANED THE SOLENOID ,... SAME THING.... REWIRED IT AND MADE SURE ALL THE CONNECTION WERE GOOD AND THE WIRES WHEN WHERE THEY SUPPOSED TO GO AND STILL NO VTEC. UMM?? KEEP IN MIND THAT IM USING A MODIFIED LS DIZZY (MODIFIED AS IN CHOPPED OFF FRONT LEG TO FIT) ..... IM ALSO GETTIN CODE 8 ON THE ECU.. WHICH MEANS TDC SENSOR.. NOW I KNOW THAT HAS SOMETHGIN TO DO WITH THE DISTRIBUTOR.... AFTER GIVING U A LIL BACKGROUND ON WHA THE STORY IS.. I HAVE A COUPLE F QUESTIONS... IM ALSO RUNNING A PR3 ECU... I SOLD THE PW0.

1 WHAT COULD IT BE THAT WILL STOP VTEC FROM ENGAGING?

2 WOULD A BAD TDC SENSOR (DISTRIBUTOR) HAVE ANYTHGIN TO DO WITH VTEC NOT WORKING?

I'D APPRECIATE ANY INPUT ON THIS ISSUE.. THANKS. JONATHAN

i am having the same prblem i am on my way to junk yard to get me a new cluster dash yipey

i got a 88 hatch 2 dx they are twins
were u stay at maybe we cna figure this problem out our self

if you have codes, you are not going to get VTEC to engage - gotta fix the codes first

yes, and speedo is required for xover. its bassed off of TPS RPM and VSS (speed)
eh and fix tat TDC sensor, you likely wired the 2 white wires on the dizzy backwords or something. (if you did wiring at all)

aight cool guys thanks.. i'll have some homework to do this weekend.. pick and pull.. then hit the garage for a couple of hours.. hopefully it works....

they only wirign i did. was the harnesses fromt he SI into the DX shell... so no other cuttin and soldering was done. . . . . . . . .

Did you wire MPFI correctly? I just have this feeling that you didn't. (sorry)

i never messed with wiring what i di was get all the wires form a 89 si.. which already had the 4 plugs for the injectors.. so no dx to si conversion here.. all was transfered from a si...
