Rear Tire Wear problem..Lowered, need help please
Hey whats up everyone,, i'm not a regular poster on here so excuse me if this question has been answered a million times before or if it is a really thing to fix. The issue at hand is that i bought my 91 tegra already lowered. I think they just put in shorter springs and different shocks and struts. The problem is that the inside wear on both my rear tires is worse than the rest of the tire. Basically, what do i need to buy and put on my car to fix the tire wear problem. A camber kit?? thanks
yeah, u definately need an alignment. with the car being lowered, the top of the tire is pulled in (negative camber) causing the outside contact patch to lift and the car to ride on the inside of the tire. u may need a camber kit, depends on how much u are lowered.
your toe should be fine just have the shop give you an alignment and they can tell you if you need a kit to correct the camber or they can try the washer trick. if you want to save the tires just swap them so the other side wears down to match then chuck them.
No his toe should not be fine, that is why he is getting that wear. Any time you lower or raise the suspension you screw up the camber and toe. When both are out of spec you eat up tires and get "camber wear." An alignment will fix the toe and the "camber wear" will be greatly reduced. Negative camber is good, hence why some cars from the factory come with some negative camber and they do not get uneven tire wear.
i was thinkin of doing this, but the stupid tire shop wont do it, cuz they say its dangerous,, but what is the "washer trick"??
