There's some squeeking noise when i turn on the engine and it seems to stop after 10 secs. Is it a belt? how would i know if its a timing belt or some other. I just bought it and the car runs fine. is the noise a major problem? should i get it fixed

check your alternator belt, it may be loose. Good Luck and congrats on the car purchase!

 

the squeaking that is bothering you comes from one of your belts. just find where it is coming from and tighten it up. my friend had the same problem and a mechanic fixed his for free so i dont think it would cost you anything if you located the problem.

 

most likely the alternator belt...takes 10 seconds to tighten it

 

Thanks for the quick response! how would i know that it needs to be tightened? what if i need to replace it? Is there a way to tell.

 

belts need to be replaced if they are cracked or scruffed up...i believe the adjusting bolt is a 12mm...correct me if im wrong...im not too sure cuz i lost the original mount bolt..and used a different one
