Default Welder Blowing Fuses / Smoking *NEED TO WELD!!* (CE Mig100)

Im having some troubles with this dam welder now and its in the worst moment as Im getting ready to make some things

Its a chicago electric mig 100 fluxcored welder, cheap and simple I thought

Ive used it for maybe6 pound of weld wire.

I was using it for about 20 min pretty consistently when the motor started to slow down and eventually died and stopped feeding wire. This pisses me off. It took about 10 seconds to die

So I see a small cloud of smoke, open the sucker up and its a popped fuse, no bigger I ran it to hard I think, ran to radioshack and grab another 2 amp 250volt fuse, blew it instantly, threw another one in and the motor ran but slowly again died, this time I see what hapened

A cloom of smoke come from under the wire feed motor, then this little white box at the bottom of the electrical panel glows orange/red inside and then the fuse blows, motor cuts out.

heres some pics as to what im talking about

I hope someone can help me with what is going on

Thanks guys

I'd see if there is a warranty on that thing.

are you sure the wire isnt jammed up in the hose/gun.. maybe the motor keeps oerloading itself trying to push it in..

but prolly not cause usually itll just ball up in the case..

ya, that's what i was thinking. remove spool, replace fuse and if you can run the motor without a load, then you've found it. the white box is a motor speed control most likely

the wire is feeding out the end of the gun, no load on it

Yea, you might want to check the duty cycle on it, you may be exceding it causing it to blow fuses.

crappy design / cheap electronics+ exceeding the duty cycle = owned.

just go buy a new one, swap out the insides, then return it, its like the warrenty they never told you about.

that white box is probly the relay for the main power, i bet you over heated it. trying hitting the welder with a large rubber mallet.

That IS the difference between a no name and a Lincoln/Miller. Comparable models at better pricing my ***.

Good duty cycle = $

Stop welding so much and keep in mind the duty cycle of the machine.

I know this doesn't help to solve your problem, but You could of bought a miller or lincoln, used it and sold it for less than $100 out of pocket.

I got burned buying a cheap brand stick welder. After that, I said never again.

well.. Ill try to offer some help.

You say in another post you dropped the gun? And it poped and stopped working?

Something is shorting out upon use, you must find out what this is.. Could have shorted and fried something as well

sorry for your luck
