maybe someone out there can help me? i have a 93 civic hatch dx. when i drive around 40mph i get a tapping noise on the left front side, this also happens when i brake right before i stop. it's loud enough to hear with or without the window open, but not loud enough to pin point, and it isn't constant (only at 40mph & braking). my brakes are good & replaced the axle like a month ago. i jacked the car and spun the wheel and heard nothing, started the car and gave it some gas and still nothing. it's driving me crazy, could my bushings need replacing, or maybe my ball joints. i need an alignment, can that be the problem?

can someone help w/info or any suggestions?

Check the balljoints. Jack the car up, grab the wheel at 3 and 9 o'clock and shake back and forth. Then do the same at 12 and 6 o'clock. See if there is any play. Check the boots on the balljoints to see if they're torn, check the tie rod ends for play, and the upper balljoints as well.

maybe its coming from your head? mine does the same thing and turns our i need a valve adjustment.

12 and 6 o'clock doesnt really work. Grab the steering knuckle (that metal thing next to the shock spring) and rock back and forth. If it moves or u here a noise, it's your upper ball joint. You can do this without jacking up the car.
