I wish my vtec problem was as easy as yours.

Anyway, you need to get the speedometer to work. the car needs to be at 20+ mph for vtec to engage. If the speedo doesn't work, the ecu doesn't know how fast the car is going so it vtec won't work. You need to fix ur speedo not working. You are also probably throwing a code 17.

I would check the speedometer cable connection in the back of the cluster first to see if its plugged in or not. If that doesn't work, your speedo cable might be broken, replace it. If that doesn't work, you need to replace the mechanical vss you have in the transmission.

Ya it's suppose to be like that. Just stick the D series one in there, if it's installed properly it should start working. That's what I do. I've got it to work to all my civic swaps. Using the stock speedo cable works everytime.

You just find a VSS - vehicle speed sensor - to put in that hole. A cable vss would be the easiest fix. Otherwise if you mean hole as in "additional support material on the trans casing is missing", then get another tranny casing, or complete tranny.

Oh, I get what you mean now.

Go to a scrap yard and get a 90-93 Integra (B18A) VSS and the support for it. If the casing itself is fucked, take the whole tranny and swap out the guts.

B18A tranny have long gears and suck for B16A, but the casings match up. Also, you could put the B18A 5th gear in to get a long 5th gear, lower RPMS on highway cruising.
