valve adjustment 92 LS
okay...i'm new to the whole tunings stuff. i'm trying to adust the valves right now. i got my helms manual so i got MOST of the info i need. however, my TDC doesn't line up. The intake cam sprocket lines up perfectly at TDC...the UP mark and the TDC line are exactly where they are suppose to be. However, on the exhaust side. The UP mark is in place at 12o'clock for valve #1 but the TDC line is off by one notch...one notch below the intake TDC. My question is, is this correct? If not, do I line up the TDC line and not worry about the UP mark? Cause it seems like if I line up the TDC line, the UP mark on the exhaust side would be off. What is more important, for the TDC line to line up properly or have the UP mark where it's suppose to be at 12o'clock for No. 1 valve?
thanks

ok man i dont know how to anwser UR question but i can say i did mine on my 92'ls in this mannor.... u see the way the lobes on the intake cam for the number 1 cylinger are horizontal and point toward the rear of the car to me they are free, meaning the valve can be set. follow.... so i did mine in this mannor. all of then... i turned the crank an made sur they all / intake (pointed to the rear of the car) and exhaust ( pointed to the front bumper) were all free, i found it easier that way then to follow the book. good luck
