Default Opinion On Tires

*edit* I am posting in this forum because it seems to get the most response, if it needs to be moved feel free to do so. *edit*

I'm tossing around a few different choices on tires and I am looking for opinions/feedback. All tires are 205/50-15 and are going on 15x6.5" GAB wheels. There are 3 different price ranges. I'm looking for advantages/disadvantages related to performance Vs. Cost, based on personal experience.

1. Yokohama AVS ES-100 - $75 each

2. Kumho ECSTA Supra 712 - $58 each

3. Falken Azenis RT-615 - $97 each

Shouldn't this go under the tire/wheel forum?

i've ran both the Yokos and Kuhmo's before. the Ecsta's have horrible dry performance traction compared to the ES100's. the Yoko's are also cheaper...i've had no experience with the new Azenis...

Anyone actually have the new Azenis? Are they usable in the rain now?

I vote ES100s based on exprience, I think they're very good. Yoko's or if you have the cash then go for the Azenis.

2. what are you looking for in a tire: more performance or longer lastin tire.

with this answered I can help you out more.

Going on a 1999 Civic Sedan, looking for good performance and a decent life, this car is also driven several times a week.

OFF the ones you posted, Azenis>ES100>Ecsta. IF I get to pick, I pick the Goodyear F1GSD3

According to http://www.1010tires.com, they get a 4.2/5 for wet traction, which seems pretty good to me.

kuhmo's suck! azenis suck!

i would get bfg's or some toyo's. but of course. i'm turbo'd and i need the traction rain or shine.

for you? you get es100's or pradas. those are the real options

i'll tell u right now,
the es100's are NOT all they're cracked up to be.

they grip "pretty" good, when you give them a high enough tire pressure(like 35-40psi) and they do last pretty well..
But once they start to loose tread they seem to loose performance as well..

those azenis will outperform the es100's by a HUGE margin,

oh and the es100's wouuld be a better choice than those 712's..

only prob with the azenis is how long they last,
which is still not bad, just dont be prepared for them to last years upon years or anything..

I have goodyear eagle f1's on my turbo b16 hatchback. they work really good. awsome wet traction. they won best tire of the year in car and driver for 2005, and on tire rack they #1 tire. i would look into them. i believe they come in 195-50-15? Check them out. awsome tire!
