Could I put a set of Crower Stage 1's in my B16A without upgrading the camgears? I do intend to give the head a light skim, and then if I install the Crowers at TDC will all be cool?

What I'd like to know is will it be worth getting the cam gears. I'm sure that they will make a difference if they're properly tuned, but as an interim solution will they work well if I just 'bolt-them-on' (the cams)? Will there be a decent increase?

 

without tuning don't expect to get gains from aftermarket cams...the key to cams as with any other setup is tuning.

if i were you just hold off until you can afford to buy the gears as well then install em both at the same time.
