Default How to I tell if motor has been replaced???

Hey guys I need some help.

I'm about to buy a 94 Rs integra and in the picture it has a 96 and up valve cover. Now I've been in the scene for a long time and now how and what engines are in every car. Valve cover can be changed I understand that but the guy says it came on the car like that when he bought it and the person he bought it from was an old man, so...

But tell me this is the vin number on the engine different from year to year or does a JDM B18B have different marking on it??

I need to know when I go look at the car tomorrow.

Can someone help me so I know what to look for or if someone or give me an example like,

94 start with a 5
95 start with a 7 or something like that,

Thanks,

John

No VINs on the engine or tranny on the 94-95s but there will either be a VIN or holes for a VIN plate if its a 96+. On top of that the 96+ wiring harness is different plugs on the distributor (and other places) though some people will keep all the OBD I accessories and OBD I harness. Oh wait, I know.....check the casting on the head (right about the header) and it will have the year cast into the metal.

OooOO and if it dosn't have a vin on the tranny...don't buy it because you wil get your car impounded for that...just like my brother...and they wouldn't give it back unless he takes off the transmission....still doing legal stuff about it now...

I dont know where you leave, but they cant impound your car for not having a crappy little sticker that has nothing more then the type of tranny it is followed by some meaningless #s. Ofcourse you silly *** people in cali with your "We arent going to give up on legalized weed" but yet cops have the right to pull you over and check your car for a motor swap and then impound your car if you do??? Sorry, but move to some place where the laws are to protect you and not just expletive you over in every possible way.

Yeah i saw your topic, I HATE COPS. Everytime I get pulled over in my prerunner truck. I only crack the window(yes you can do this) to talk to them becasue I tell them I dont trust cops. They might get mad and pull some "well if your not going to roll down the window then why dont we do a saftey check on your vehicle" but then I usually roll it down. GOD I HATE COPS. Its to bad because there are good ones but the bad ones make them look bad, its a shame.

THakns again guys.

well i actually don't blame the cops for this..i think its good that they do checks like this...i blame honda for not bolting the vin numbers on all trannies.....it's only obviouse that a sticker will fall off over time.......it's just gay how they didn't think of this untill 96 and up cars....there are alotta stolen cars around the area that are stolen, so the city has issued a permite that allows cops to do rountine checks on any car that is "MODIFIED".
