Default HID headlight kit

Does anyone know of a really good HID kit for H1 bulbs
I have a 97' Prelude and I want blue headlights
I have heard that 8000k is a great kit

Its really best to do a retrofit. Its more $, but you will be happy with it. Those off the shelf kits blind the hell out of oncoming traffic.

I second don't recommend HIDs with stock reflectors. I saw this 5th gen prelude like a mile away w/ his bright a$$ HIDs in his stock reflectors. Blinded me even from that distance and was really annoying. PLEASE stick w/ regular bulbs or dish out the money and get your headlights retrofited.

There is a guy doing retro fits on preludes on honda-tech.

Talk to him a few times and I think my time is up soon, can't remember his name but I think he goes by prelude87 or something.

Gonna email him and find out if I'm on the list and let you know.

Brian, if you read this please drop me a email so I know whats up.

yeah, even with HIDs your cheap ebay projector headlights won't do much to illuminate. If all you're going for is the "Look" then by all means...

try searching HID and you'll find the username for the guy who does retrofits. simple.

If you want brighter lights, DO NOT, get an HID kit. I can't tell you how many posts I've seen from people with kits who are now saying their lights sucked more than stock. Not to mention the fact that almost all kits are for "offroad/show use only." You run the risk of getting pulled over or causing someone else grief on the road because they have to be subjected to your glare.

Not to mention that 8000K puts out about 2000 lumens when focused through a projector, and when reflected, you'd be lucky to get half of that output in a usable form, so guess what? You're stuck with about the same light you had stock: ~1000lm.

Kits are notoriously unreliable, running cheap components and crappy rebased no-name bulbs. I could go on and on and on.

Don't waste your time with a kit man. If you want a brighter light, go out and get an upgraded wiring harness and run some higher wattage bulbs. I'm actually finishing up my retrofit this afternoon, aiming and sealing my headlights. A retro is a little bit more expensive than a kit, but it's the only way to do it right.

Shoot me a msg on aim @ "dvst8ive" if you're interested, and I could give you some links to some good info to help get you started. I'm not sure how the mods on this site feel about advertising other websites...

The stock beam pattern sucks with hid bulbs.

hey guys, i put 05 acura tl hids in my 92 lude and they are bright as hell, different hid kits do different things i guess, but when u are driving a car with bright *** lights it is the ****, and it sucks for those of u who i blind haha. i work at a collision center and i take the hids out of the totaled acuras, i have a set from a 97 tl right now, list price is 600 plus 2 120 dollar bulbs, ill sell them for 300 and they are really easy to install, there are only 2 wires from these so all u have to do is mount the box and connect positive and negative, the bulbs fit fairly well in my headlights, in the newer style im not so sure but u can just glue the bulbs in, they last for ******* ever and they are bright, i highly recommend them, not so sure about aftermarket kits or anything, but the new acura headlights are bright as **** anybody wants a set pm me

i use a mcculloch 8000k kit. not ricey blue, nice blue, beam pattern is ok, brightness is a little better than stock halogens bulbs, and people are not bothered whatsoever by them. overall i like them, but if you have the time/money/***** to cut apart your stock headlamps, a retrofit is the way to go.

The kit I have decided to purchase is the mcculloch 8000k kit, which has a nice blue color and is not overly bright. I have heard good things about it so I bought it.

O and (LUDE CONDUCT) dont be angry just because you arent able to purchase them.
