I got a ys1 (non-lsd) tranny with a b18c block. Every time i try and put it in 3rd gear it grinds. Anyone who knows? Could it be the syncro?

 

yup thats what it is. will it go in with grinding or wont go in at all? try going in at a low rpm instead of high rpms. also go to your local gm dealership and get some syncromesh from the parts department.

Yep, sounds like the syncro. You should get it fixed asap before you ruin your gears becuase that will set you back alot more

 

I dont know one person with a cable b-series tranny that doesn't grind in 3rd gear..

Change the fluid and see what happens first before you go spending money..Also what shift linkage do you have?

 

i must be lucky. Y1 LSD for me 100% grind free

Never had a problem with my ys1 or my buddys ys1 (mine has over 200k on it by now also). It has alot to do with shifting correctly, I have seen alot of people "speed shifting" and practically not even use the clutch in between shifts and cause grinding (usually Teenagers) poor trannies

You're lucky..

 

at a low rpm it doesnt grind, but when i get on it it does grind, the gear does go in.

 

sorry guys about this but how do you post pictures of your car? Cause i always have problems when i try it?????

 

ive got the same tranny and my situation is the opposite it grinds at low rpms like 2000 but is fine at 8000

 

just drive normal. dont git on it.

 

ya right, how about when i have to smoke someone??? J/k I guess i will buy a new tranny.What do you guys think? YS1 Lsd Or ITR LSd?????
