Hi, new to Honda-Tech, but find them very informative for my other car.

Well, the wife has a 97 Civic LX with a D16Y7 engine in it and 112,000 miles. For the last few months, the check engine light came on. I had the codes pulled and it came up as P0420 (Catalyst system efficiency below threshold).

Does she need a new cat? It is one of those that is attached to the exhaust manifold. If she does need a new one, are there any good aftermarket ones out there?

Any info is greatly appreciated.
