I tried to paint the little bulbs that go in the back of my cluster and I just dont like the way it is coming out. Is there somewhere you can just buy them already amber?

not to jack this thread but do they sell LEDs that could be used back there? I think NAPA sells just the bulbs, in clear though. But at a buck a bulb mistakes can get expensive, I painted mine using the stain glass paint but the glow was more of a brown. 20$ wasted.

 

i just bought a bunch for my cluster the other day from the local advanced auto parts store...

 

I painted mine and it came out more Redish than amber.
I used the Testors Spray orange.

probably like 5 bucks a bulbs from Honda though, worth a shot i guess.

i used testors "competetion orange" came out nice

 

i managed to find 194 and 74 bulbs in amber from autozone.. Sylvania bulbs. they're ok, but more of a faded orange unless its really dark, then they glow a nice orange.

 

I used some fluorescent orange I got from wal-mart. I put like 3 coats on it. When I put it in there I guess they got so hot that a lot of the paint burned off some of the bulbs which made it look all uneven, and stink like **** for that matter. That is why I just wanted some pre-painted bulbs.

 

i picked up some amber #74 bulbs from http://www.superlumination.com. they came out great on my sol - nice dark amber.

While we are on the subject, what bulbs go in the climate control?

i used 5 #24 bulbs and 1 #194 in my '00 ex cluster. i've seen write ups that say use #74 too though. theres also 2 #74 bulbs at the top of the cluster that seem to illuminate the needles

the bulbs in the climate control (of the 99-00 civics) seem to be impossible to find other than from honda. i found some that i thought were it but they turned out to be too small.

 

Is there a write up for replacing the climate control bulbs, on a 96-00 4 door civic?
