Default RPMs Surging

hey i just got a d15b swap in my 92 civic si hb. It ran fine when i got it back but now the rpm needle goes crazy past like 2000rpms and the car surges. This often causes the car to die and show engine light. WTF is wrong with my car

P.S. somedays are worse than others i dont know why.
Also it seemed to happen right after i replaced my distib cap and rotor.

when they say "cel" they're referring to the check engine light. If you look underneath your glove box, there will be a 2 wire plug, it has a green and brown wire i believe i could be wrong. Take a paperclip and jumper the two wires together. Have the ignition off, then jumper the two together, and while they're jumpered together turn the ignition to the one position and watch the check engine light blink. I believe one long light counts as 10, and the short ones count as one. Search on here for check engine lights or and there will be a list that shows what every code means.

and im pretty sure that it is a green and brown wire, and the plug should be blue
