Can/will ARP main studs warp my journals?
I just got my block all machined and they said the alignment on my mains was good, but they used my old honda bolts when they tested it. I'm just wondering if ARP studs will warp the journals out of spec (I actually gave them the studs, but they never checked the journals with them for some reason). Also I've been taking them in and out to clean them alot lately (WD40 gets into the threads sometimes) at first they went in really smooth but now it's like, most of them catch and loosen back up as I'm twisting them in.
Back to the machine shop?

if you plan on torqueing the arp mains to the higher-than-stock value arp says, i would say go back to the shop. even if you take them to the stock value, there may be a difference because of the difference in materials from stock to arp. but this greatly depends on some of characteritics of the metal itself.
i would be very weary using anything other than stock at stock values if it was line honed that way. differences in metals and torque values will make changes in the displacement of the cap. not much, maybe only displacing it by less than a thousandth, but then again one thousandth on your mains is a big deal

I JUST INSTALLED ARP MAIN STUDS AND AN ERL MAIN GIRDLE AND THEY SAID TO TORQ THE MAINS TO 60FT LB. I HAD ASKED THE SAME ? AND THEY TOLD ME SINCE YOU WEREN'T GOING TO MUCH OVER THE STOCK TORQ THE MAINS SHOULD BE GOOD. BUT THEY STILL RECOMMENDED TO HAVE IT LINE HONED.
