question about knock sensor and timing retard
Yes, all F23 engines have a knock sensor that will retard timing if knock is sensed. They will also adjust for higher octane fuel and increase power with it.

Can you read my mind or something ?!
'cause thats what I was going to ask next. When exactly and how often does the ecu check for adjusting timing for higher octane fuel ?
Thanks Jon.

Unfortunately I am not extremely knowledgable about the fine details, I just know from seeing dyno plots that our cars will pick up some HP and TQ with 91.

all accords prior to 2003 cannot make use of higher octane fuel. Only the 7th gen cars can do that.......
ok thanks.
just out of curiosity - would that apply to my 2001 Acura MDX also ? It has DIS though (dist less ign sys).
