What To Do? Soo Many Options!
Hey whats up?
I have a slight delema(as do we all!) I have recently picked up a B18A1 longblock w/manifolds for $100! I was planning on starting a project car, posibly a 88-91 hatch or a 92-95 hatch. My delema is that I drive a 2000 Civic Coupe Ex that is dying for some more power. All that I have done to the Coupe so far is lower it with a set of Eibach Pro Kit and give it some 17" shoes. I am torn between starting a fresh project or continuing with the platform that I already have. My coupe has 106k on it so if I do anything with it I will definatly need to start with a rebuild. Anyways now that you get the jist of my situation that I am in here are the few scenarios that I have conjured up in my never ending daydreaming.
1) Rebuild the B18 as a N/A mild motor and shove it in my 00 EX. If I did this I would want to keep my powersteering and A/C. This car is going to have to be very dependable since it will be my daily driver.
2) Rebuild the B18 as a N/A animal or posibly a boosted creature and put it in another platform such as a hatch. The good thing about this is that I will have more time and leisure to do the build and I could go absolutely wild with all of my mods since it wont be my daily driver. The only down side of this is the aditional cost of getting another body and doing all of the bodywork and paint. this by far would be the most costly, but posibly the most rewarding.
3) Keep the B18 on the back burner and simply build bullet proof but high compression D16Y8 and drop it right in my 00 Coupe. OR Build a mildly boosted D16Y8 and simply drop it in my 00 Coupe!
As you can tell I have put some thought into what will be the best bang for my buck, but I am also keeping in mind that no matter what I do I will need to retain a dependable daily driver. What do you fella's think I should do? What would you do if you were in my situation?
I am lucky enough to be a Technician at the local Honda dealer so I do get very good prices on parts and I have all the technical info I would need at my disposal. If there is anything I can do to help you guys out just let me know. Thanks for all of your help.
Ken.
