Mini-Me info needed... Already searched :\
As of now, I have a fairly stock motor in my EH2(see sig). I am looking for a bit of a bump in power for my engine. If anyone has link to how-to's or any other resourceful info on mini-me swaps, I would greatly appreciate it. A few questions i have:
1. Is my car pre-wired for VTEC (92 DX)?
2. Does Z6 head = Z6 timing belt?
3. I am a total noob to engine work & have never disassembled an engine before, could I do the head swap in a weekend w/ pretty common hand tools?
4. How much would the complete swap run me?
5. Thanks a bunch for the help....(not really a question)

My bible: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=554053
1. Yes, but you still have to run the wires from the shock towers. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1067906
2. Yes
3. No. I'd recommend a helms manual, and an impact gun because the crank pulley is a bitch (when you're changing the timing belt). You also need a timing gun to time the motor once its assembled.
4. Depends on how cheap you find parts. 200-600 i'd say
5. No problem, but doing a mini me really is completely ******* worthless. I'd turbo your car instead. Its marginally more expensive and you get probably 5 times the performance you'd gain from a mini me. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1315461

Thanks a bunch... I saw the thread, and never noticed that you wrote it. Your thread about turbo-D vs mini-me swaps intersted me alot also. I am torn between going turbo D or mini-me. Any numbers for a mild tuned tubro D15B7 on ~6 psi. Would I be lookin at about 160 whp? Thanks anyway...
Yeah, its just a size. The SRT-4 turbo and the turbo off the greddy kit is a TD04, which is about the same size. A bigger turbo, like a T3, would provide more power at the same PSI. The motor can hold so much HP, PSI really is relative to the turbo you use. Like, you could blow a D15B7 with 10 PSI from a T25 or 4 PSI from a T4

sorry to intrude on this thread, i just got done reading the first 6 pages of the mini me swap and had a couple questions.
Me and my roommate just pulled a vtec head off of a car at the junkyard. we want to install it on his 1994 Del Sol D15B7. the weird thing is, the vtec head was in a crx, with a D15B block, no number after the B. so im assuming that it was a mini me swap already, seeing as how there were a couple sloppy wires coming from the solenoid area. now the question i have is how do i know the ecu we pulled from the car is the right one?
here is a pic of the only area with writing on it and the plug.

Also there is a civic with d series vtec head, but it doesnt say vtec on the valve cover. would the ecu from this car be the right one to use if the one i have is not?
thanks for you help.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Took me 3-4 hours w/ just common hand tools
4. I ended up spening around 250-300 for everything (minus transmission)

congratulations sir, you stumbled upong a JDM D15b
. The motor is similar to the USDM z6/y8 with a more aggressive camshaft as for the ecu i'm not 100% sure what the correct ecu is for the d15b, sorry
...
to answer your last question all vtec engines don't have a vtec valve cover, i believe theres 3 different style of valve covers for the vtec engines, so the ecu could be the correct one ... since the motor is going in the del sol if that ecu pictured above isn't the correct one, than the ecu your looking for is the infamous p28 ... hopefully this helps get you guys started.

PM6...the number in the middle is the ECU code. PM6 is an OBD-0 CRX Si ECU and won't work in a 92-95 civic or del sol AT ALL. You need a P28 from a 92-95 Civic EX/Si or Del Sol Si.
