Removing Bump stops when using coilovers
Have anyone remove or cut the front shocks bumpstops when installing coilovers? I cut mine in half and I am wondering if this is a bad idea or if it will damage the suspension in any way.
Someone else should chime in from a technical perspective, however I believe the bump-stops need to be left alone, as they are meant to protect from damage at any height. I've have more mechanics and Honda-techers say they should stay.
Each manufacturer has a different requirement. Best way to find out how much to cut is to give them a call or consult the installation instructions. You should NEVER remove the bumpstops entirely. They are the only things protecting you from a metal to metal encounter.
That depends on your spring rate. If the front rates are stiff enough, you can lower your car more without worrying about hitting the bumpstop.
