Can someone help with ef8 cluster install...
allright me being the wiring idiot that I am im having a bad time installing an ef8 cluster into my 88 dx crx. This is the wiring I have "basically" been going by for my 88-89 clips, https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=709958
I have gotten everything working besides the speedo, temp gauge and fuel gauge. The wiring for the temp and fuel gauge I have matched up the colors like yellow/white for fuel and yellow/green for temp but they dont seem to work. The e-brake light works when the e-brake is pulled and also when the car is started the ebrake light will flash 1 time. Have I gotten something crossed here? I have tried switching the fuel and temp wires but that dosent work. I also have a spare blue/yellow wire should it be cut or used?

I had seen that pin out before. It helped but on a little. Still no speedo, temp gauge or fuel gauge. Sometimes the fuel gage will go up a little...and then turn the car off and turn it back on and the fuel gage is dead again. i wonder if the cluster is burnt out or something?

i just did a 98 ex cluster in an 88 rex dx. how did you wire the VSS? theres three wires, black, black with a stripe, and blue and sometimes with a stripe. ground the black, run the black with the stripe to a key-on source, and the blue to the speed sensor signal on the cluster. we had the same problem with the temp. check for resistance between the wire that attaches to the block and gauge cluster, if you have resistance, check the sensor itself, the one i was workin on was bad. as far as the fuel level, not sure about that one. hope this helps ya man.
