Default Engine transplants

I am the new owner of a 2002 Civic and was wondering if any other more performance oriented engine is an easy transplant in the engine bay. It is a 2-door and I was thinking of getting a little more power. Should I saty with the 1.7 and get custom rods/pistons and go turbo? Is it cheaper? A type-R engine will cost close to $6K installed...
Any input will be appreciated!

ok look at this way 6k for a type r motor installed with honda's reliability or 1.7 plus machining the block putting sleeves in and new rods and forged pistons, using a better mls headgasket and a good AFC with about 5 to 8 hrs tuning will not net the same reliablity as honda since you are working off want some other person tells you is good. Plus you would still new to get or make a turbo kit which a good one cost like 3k by itself then the motor build up you are over the type R's price installed. Buy the type R motor one you will be happy and two you have a great starting platform.

really depends on $
K swap is a lot more than turbo but gives you more!
depends on how much you want?

That is exactly what I wanted to hear!... K swap is possible, but what is needed from engine mounts and such to make it "kosher"? I like to have something factory looking (aside from intake and exhaust). I am thinking also some chasis reinforcements since the engine IS more powerful and heavy!
Thanks again for the reply!
