vtec on my d16z6
Not sure of the exact RPM, but on my y8 i wasn't really able to tell the difference from regular motor and VTEC until i installed an Intake. Do you have a ram or cai? if not then im sure it would solve your problem by putting an intake on.
VTEC doesn't really hit on the SOHC motors quite like it does on the DOHC motors do. Before I swapped to a B16, I never really noticed VTEC even with i/e. That's just the way it goes.

on SOHC vtec motor you cant feel vtec at all. Vtec for this motors is nothing. i had a d16y8 and i never heard vtec on that motor.
then i got my b16a2 DOHC vtec and that vtec was hella loud and it feltl great.
D- series vtec are pieces of ****.
i would never own on again

Thats strange when my d16y8 engaged vtec i could definatly tell when the extra power kicked in. . .i just couldn't hear it too good until i put an intake on it. Maybe mine is just better than yours was? I dunno . ..
