Question about DA exhaust..
hey guys, due to recient law's, and if you remember a thread i made a while back, here in Albuquerque, New Mexico, they passed a aftermarket modified exhaust law that we couldnt do it now and its illegal
i have a 91 DA, original cat and muffler. car drives pretty good and strong now, but do you guys think i'd feel a difference in smoother acceleration and what not if i replaced my cat and muffler?
or my other option i was looking at was, going to a muffler shop, and getting a whole new exhaust system put in, using oe cat and muffler but maybe up sizing the piping a bit? if so, what would be a safe size to upgrade to? or would the oem size be just fine?

if it aint broke, dont fix it...
unless youre having problems w/ your exhaust, i dont see any need to get a new stock exhaust put on...
youll feel an improvement if your cat is clogged and you replace it..but if its fine, dont mess with it

and i need to find a way to raise my damn exhaust where the cat is at cuz the rubber hangers hang down to low and some driveways to houses and businesses own me

I know it is illegal now for you to ride with an aftermarket exhaust, but do the cops enforce it?? When I lived in VA, the cops would do 120 in a 35, and almost hit some peds., then cut off 4 cars, just to pull over a stock civic with a fart can on the back.
Now that I live in SC, there is still a law that says if it isn't stock, then its illegal, but the cops never pull anyone over for it. I've past cops while riding open header, and I now have a SP2 on my DA, and the cops never even look.
Bottom line...if you got an aftermarket exhaust, or a high-flow cat, and bigger piping, would you be able to get away with it??

i dont know how to tell if your cat is clogged...take it off and look at it i guess...or if youre having trouble with emissions...
if your muffler is rusting off, wait untill it develops holes...i lowered my car, and it really helped the already rusty muffler get a hole in it...i just got a new muffler..now its a lot quieter..
id say drive it till the exhaust breaks/gets holes in it and then get a new one..
