Default 94 Civic EX, Gauge cluster problem..

i would say one in 30 times you turn on the lights the dash lights actually work. the other 30 times they dont. driving at night is a B****... any idea's why it would work some times? and some times it comes on like after driving for a while.

random times the lights work, and most of the time they dont.

idea's? thx

You might have a lose wire. Or something isnt connected all the way. Trace the wires, and you should find the problem

Does messing with the brightness controller do anything?
Pop out your brightness controller unplug it and check for power and ground.
The black wire should have continuity to ground
The red/black wire should have voltage with the lights turned on
the red wire should turn the dash lights on when you connect it to ground and have the headlights on.
Depending on what you find we can find the problem.
