Default Suggest a good air filter...

Hey guys, I'm gonna grab an el-cheapo intake tube off of eBay for my '97, and I need some suggestions on a good air filter to use. If you recommend something, please give me help on what size to get. I assume most intakes have a 3" inlet, but how long should the filter be, tapered/not tapered, stuff like that...

Size? I already have K&N / Apexi in mind. I need a general size, and a place to order.

Read much? Most ones I see are 3" for the flange. I need to know how long of a filter to get. Not brain surgery folks.

if you go with apexi i think there are no differences in the length.
a 3" is a 3'

^There was a test done that showed apexi as giving the most power and best filtration. I will try to find the test and link it here.

what type of intake are you getting? short ram or cold air? when i got my aem short ram intake for my 98 the filter that came with it hit the headlight housing, so i had to cut off about 1.5" from the intake pipe. an aem cold air intake's filter is a little longer, about 2' i think, and it sits veru close to the splash guard. i would say that no matter what length filter you get, you can make it fit either by sliding it a little further along the intake pipe, or cutting the pipe shorter like i did. besides most filters i have used were pretty close in length.
