Default BUILDING MY NEW H22

I am currently planning on building my H22 for boost, I have heard so many things from Preludepower.com about what I need to do first but every other comment contradicts the one before. So im coming to the actual tech site!
I have a H22 with 190,000 mile never been rebuilt, still runs real strong! Im looking to run around 10-12 psi of boost, so far I know im getting JE pistons, Eagle rods, and Darton sleeves. But im not sure what sleeve I will need. I think there are three kinds. Any help would be greatly appreciated! If there are any other items I need, let me know.

ok man especially if you are building for boost youll need to go through that engine...190k is alot of mileage

get closed deck sleeves..unless you wanna send your block to benson's for their custom open deck sleeves for the h22a1

i suggest the whole nine yards...spend a little more now or alot later...

search around on here and find other peoples boost builds..chrsiricketts has a nice one

^ 100 % correct.

Let whoever does the sleeves, pick which ones. I think there are 2 types. Check out importbuilders.com. Laskey racing is good too (Bensons sleeves). Earl Laskey is a member here.

ok welll thanks for the replies, the guy im sending my car to said not to even touch the head, just worry about sleeving, rods and pistons. is this true? another question is i have a h23 obx intake manifold that i bought cheap, is there anyway to modify it to fit in the h22? i was going to boost my h23 lude but i have a molded body kit and i dont want to go through that hassle so i picked up the 93 vtec to turbo.

^ For the head wouldn't you need cams and valves? I don't know about modifying the h23 obx manifold to fit an h22. Do you have 2 cars? If so, you can always swap the h22 head on the h23 block.

The guy your sending this to is correct. The H22 head in stock condition will produce plenty of horsepower, however if you have 190K on that engine I would replace the valve springs and retainers and if you go that far replace the valves. Super-tech is the best value out there. Sleeves, Rods and pistons are where to spend your money.

So just replace the valve, valve springs, retainers, should i go for the titanium retainers or is there really that big of difference. as far as swapping heads with my h23 thats not an option the h23 is my "show car" lol im not robbing parts for her. Does anyone know what I would have to do to make the intake manifold fit? I really think it would make the car breathe alot better then the stock one. I would think there should be more upgrades such as bigger injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump, maybe a better ignition (msd 6a) i already have a fuel pressure regulator on the h22 but i hate it! If there is any other upgrades id love to hear them. Thanks!

you wont be able to get that obx manifold to fit for less than it would cost to buy a new one, so sell it and buy an h22 one....

you really don't need another intake mani other than the stock one unless you are going to make a TON of power. It certainly would help the engine breathe better, but its unneccessary to spend money on that right now. I'll still be using my stock mani on my built PNP'd head, and 70mm throttle body......of course, its really going to choke my intake a bit, but i can live with it until i can afford to replace it. I'd suggest getting a Golden Eagle intake mani when the time comes. They have the best design for forced induction.

As far as turbocharging and rebuilding.......i hope you have around 10 grand to blow on this stuff, because by the time you get done getting everything you need (quality stuff), it's going to cost you at least that to do it right. Good Luck, and we're here if you need us......
