Default cold air intake?

Okay, I'm like a lot of people on here who believe in leaving their cars strickly stock and OEM. Having said that, I am seriously thinking about replacing my aircleaner with a cold air intake system.

I have two questions about this: What are the advantages or disadvantages of either the stock air box vs. a CAI; secondly for those of you have made the change what CAI system would you recommend?

Thanks for your opinions

It makes a slight difference in performace and gas mileage, but not a lot.
The AEM short ram is pretty popular.

Is there any advantage to either the long or short CAI?

I say the stock air breather is just fine. Some experts say that the CAI lets in more air, and also lets in more dirt. I trust the stock air filter to clean the air, and don't think cleaning my air filter, and re-oiling it sounds like something I care to do. You will hear the difference, but you will never feel it (not much gain in either power or mileage). OEM all the way. Happy Hondaing.

AEM with Bypass Kinda usless but you can kinda feel the power from more air going into the engine. and also makes cool queef sounds when you shut engine off and give it a nice sound. also when you at a red light my intakes howls lol

CAI will run you the possibility of sucking in water and hydrolocking your engine. Its like burglary, u think ur safe but ur not. And also, think about it this way...over 15-20 mph, the airflow in ur engine bay will be the same as it is where ur CAI sits. I would say get a el-cheapo short ram intake and stick a K/N filter on it. The gains are minimal, but its mostly sounds.

that is not true at all, i dont knoiw where u got that idea from but you were lied too...u can even stick a thermometer in ur engine bay and drive around ont he freeway and check it, it will not be the same temp outside...</TD></TR></TABLE>

Agreed! it all depends on the intake you get if you get a cold air intake from ebay thats not ceramic coated chances are the "cool air" wont be as cool due to the chrome piping heating up (from what experience)

Once i switched over to an AEM C A I i tested the diff and the AEM pipe stay alot cooler than the chrome ebay one (this was even tested in the summer time)

And about sucking up water into the engine, yeah sure it can if you decide to drive you car in the lake!. How ever AEM has provided us with Air bypas valves which will engage once the intake is submerged in water. There for if it rain a little bit and your flter gets wet, it does not mean its going to dump like 2 cups of water up the intake into the engine. AEM has proven dyno results on their page and no the AIr BYPASS VALVE does not cause lose of HP which is also tested ::stick toung out:: lol

You also end up with a dirtier filter with a CAI if that hasnt been mentioned.

i would definatley invest in a cai, you wont see much if any gas mileage improvements but the throttle will feel more responsive and you car will sound meaner( will definatley turn heads) i wouldnt recomend a short ram just because your taking hot air from the engine bay, just like the stock intake. look into both aem and injen cai, also i would recomend getting a bypass valve just incase your filter did get to much water on it, unless you want to have hydrolocking

alot of people r skeptical about the V2 power gain claims but i believe in it 100%, but i still wudnt pay 200+ bucks for one tho </TD></TR></TABLE>

i havent really taken the time to look into the V2 intake im sure i would get it "if" i had money but im not sure what the dif is between mine and the V2 maybe higher air flow with a turbonator inside of it lol hmm well theres an idea lol wonder if it will even improve airflow lol..

i really beleive on the products that AEM provides and i would ttrust them with my car lol

Kinda pointless throwing an Airbypass valve on a Short Ram Intake tho. And dont get those bootleg bypassvalves they probably do leak and lose hp
