Default just got a sub, now i need an amp...

i just purchased an alpine type r 12" dvc 4ohm sub...and im tired of getting some cheap *** amp...

what would you recommend me getting if lets say i had around 200-250 to spend.

ive been doing some research on it and i can wire the sub to be 2 ohm stable

what do you guys think of the pioneer GM-7100M amp or the kenwood KAC-9102D amp?

Pioneer amp is a turd... I've installed a few of them, and they just don't do much. Kenwood is a little better.

Look for an Alpine or Soundstream...

Your sub is a 500W rms DVC 4 ohm, it can be wired for a 2 ohm or 8 ohm load so you need an amp that puts out 500W RMS at 2 ohms or 8 ohms [ for a good match to the sub] the Pioneer is only 360W RMS into 2 ohms, so should not be an option, the Kenwood is 500W RMS into 4 ohm and 850W RMS into a 2 ohm load, and although it will work you will have to be careful on how high you adjust the gain. 94

try to find a jl 500/1 amp for decent price.
if you look hard enough you should be able to find one for around 300. so save the extra cash and be satisfied later on.

I bought a Phoenix Gold Xenon 600.1. for about 260 shipped on ebay. This is not a cheap amp quality/performance wise.

there is a lot of tuning with this amplifier as well, especially if you opt for the remote bass ****, which i would

im going to be running a 12w6 with the jl slash 500/1 amplifier.. should be a really great match.

The bottom line: if $200-$250 is all you have to spend, go for something used of good quality rather than a new piece of crap.

you could get a 1200d for that price (if you shop around), much better option imo. for the price anyway. great amps too. x2 on the PG 600.1
