EM1 Head Unit into 96-98 Civic?

i have a 97 civic ex coupe.i want to put a 99 si radio/cd player in it.
the plugs are different..i thought it would be plug and play bc 96-00 but since 99 is obd2b maybe thats the problem? how can i make it work?

iknow its ecu related but 99-00 is diferent wiring that 96-98 DUH!

ECAhatch already gave you the solution. If the plugs are different, you need to obtain the correct plug and splice it into your existing harness. If you don't want to modify your factory wiring, you can splice the new plug onto an after-market stereo installation adapter and plug it in that way.
