purchasing a GSR motor, please help with questions
Sorry, this has probably come up a few times here and there. I tried searching but it did not give me answers to my questions.
This week I am going to purchase a GSR from a fellow enthusiast in my area, the deal is nearly sealed but I have to go see the engine and tranny. I would like to ask, what is the ideal compression for each cylinder in the motor? What other details should I look into checking (the motor is out of the car so I cannot drive it or run it). I will ask for a small/short warranty. Where is the VIN number located on the motor/tranny (for carfax checks)? And same question goes to both tranny and motor codes? What are the motor/tranny codes for a GSR (B18C1?)? If you have any other advice regarding the purchase please post up. If you need more information of any sort let me know.
Thank you.

A gsr head should have a P72 stamp on it.
It should have an engine code of b18C (jdm) or B18C1 (usdm)
The vins should be on the outside of the tranny casing on the front of the motor where the block and tranny mate. Also on the front bottom of the block right above the oil pan.
BTW you know your picture is not of a GSR motor, thats a K20
