You have gas light? What do you mean the needle broke? Did it physically come off? Or did it just stop working?

My fuel sending unit in my car is bad, so my fuel gauge doesn't always read correctly. Yet, my gas light still comes on when fuel is low. It doesn't read from the F.S.U. or the needle. The gas light will still let you know when fuel is low.

Although, my fuel light is on about 95% of the time in my truck, and I need to replace the F.S.U. I just know when to fill up.

Anyhow, again, to answer your question, the fuel light will come on when it is time to fill up, it doesn't read off of the needle.

Hmm, Maybe you could take the Needle off of your old cluster and swap it on? Just an idea. I'm probably wrong on that.

It would need to be recalibrated. Or done very carefully . Actually, I am not sure how it works, but if it is anything like a speedo or tach, it would have to be recalibrated.

Wouldn't the ECU automatically re-cal it when its started up? I'm guessing no, but its worth a shot I guess.
