gas reading problem

gas reading problem
well first off... gas light dont work... but that sorta doesnt matter
got a 92 si
well to the problem.. most of the time it reads some what accurate.. but it seems to go down quickly right after its filled.. so it reads E after like 9 gallons.. but 2 be safe i just add about 4 gallons but then it tops off.. so its goes to full.. its trippy.. would like to fix it.. but how... fix the light? etc?

EDIT: Check your gas fuel level sensor inside the gas tank.
